Urbex (2014-2016)

My first urban exploration adventure took place in high school, and consisted of me and some buds stealthily trawling into one of the abandoned paper mills on Kalamazoo's south side. It would take me a number of years to become reacquainted with the broken glass, the hazardous smells, the death pit holes in the floor. Much like trekking into the Catskills, touring grimy Rust Belt factories flirts with a trace of the unknown, offering scenes of profound beauty and a peaceful quiet, punctuated by the occasional adrenaline-triggering sound. You are simultaneously provided a glimpse into a not-so-distant American past, while the post-apocalyptic landscapes evoke a dystopian future.
